Look at the pickup trucks that are equiped with dpf. They also get horrible mileage. I don't see anybody getting 6+mpg with a dpf motor. I would love to see the actual figures in person if they are. Most guys I hear saying they get 7 or 8 mpg are going off the computer and not the actual numbers off the fuel pump and odometer. I had a guy yesterday tell me his average was 8mpg in a older Freightliner FLD120 pulling a Schneider box. I could see 6 maybe even a high 6, but the way he drove showed me there is no way he gets 8.

I have a 09 kw t2000 with the c 13 in it i have seen as bad as 4.4 mpg pulling heavy loads while idling alot in cold weather but also have seen as high as 8.5 running long distance with less than 5000 lbs in the box nad not idling much. I pull a 53 ft dry van and have a 10 od transmission in it and has a 119000 miles and the truck is set at 66 mph.

    You are right.
Oil companies realized in the 80s that engines are becoming too fuel efficient and they will lose profits. Then someone told them that limiting nitrous oxides emissions will make engines less fuel efficient. Then they just had to talk Greens to believe that NOX is the worst of all pollutants and the money started to flow back to their pockets. Thanks to California in USA and Austria in Europe.
Without NOX limits with todays engine technology the fuel consumption and all other pollutants like particulates would be in really low levels. Those enviromentalist just can't see the whole picture.
