In May I graduated from Roadmasters Driving School. Last week, I went off to orientation at TMC. After almost a week there, I was called into the office and told I would be sent home because a warrant for a 2015 possession of marijuana charge popped up. My question is, if the school also did a background check, how is it that it didnt pop up during my 5 weeks at school? My concern is if the school did know, did they just let me go thru it just to take my $? I took out a hefty loan (10k) to pursue this dream of mine. But it feels like I did it all for naught and am now left with a loan I have to pay back in a career I cant even get into. Please I need advice. What can I do to find out if the school knowingly let me attend with me having these charges?

Is the charge behind you now or is it still active?

We're you sentenced? If so, did you disclose this on your application ? I think I know the answer.

Its still an active bench warrant. I just was sent home on Friday by TMC and finally got home last night. I want to handle it but I want to be able to save up for a lawyer to at least have a better chance of having it dismissed and cleared. I dont want to take the chance with a public defender.

You have this loan. Use that on a lawyer. You ought to be concerned with your legal issues first.

What were you thinking showing up with a drug charge hanging over your head? Fix your problems first.

Ill be completely honest here. In January I contacted both the sheriffs office and the county clerks office to inquire about it. Neither could find it. I have my former employer as a witness as he was the one who pressed me about getting it over with. I also had a warrant for driving with a suspended license that I hired a lawyer for and eventually got dismissed. That lawyer also checked my background and nothing popped up. At the time, I found it hard to believe something like this would disappear, but once I enrolled in driving school and again nothing popping up, I just considered it a blessing. But here it goes rearing its head at the worst possible time. But my thing is, if a carrier can find out in a week, how can a school not in the 5 weeks I was there?

Some won't waste the money for a deep background check until they are sure they are going to hire you. I just paid $85 to have a TSA check done for hazmat. They won't waste that kind of money on every applicant.

Ok I guess that makes sense. So lets say worse case scenario the charges arent dropped, do trucking companies go by the original date of the charge or the date of the final plea?
