Making a career change into trucking. I have a CDL a little over a year old but no experience. I'm looking for a starter company with a nationwide running area, and I live in western Maryland. Any recommendations?

Please go Melton, at least when you go home that’s 1 more load to that part of country I won’t have to take.

I feel your pain... there was a secession movement a few years back. That's why I say "Western Maryland". I'm a stone's throw from WV. I hate going downstate. But, I have to start somewhere and I'm aware that will be mostly northeast, but I want to see as much of the country as I can. Does Melton hire and train drivers with no experience?

Yes they do, I ##### about being up there so much, but it’s really not that bad once you get used to it. You will see all 48 & Canada with Melton, there actually a solid company. I wouldn’t still be there if they weren’t.

    JH001 Thanks this.

Not that I’ve noticed, but I have heard that from others. Trucks have cameras that record hard brakes & I believe the new ones record if your following to close. I’ve never got a call from anyone, I’ll go months without ever talking to anyone in office. Do your job & they’ll leave you alone. You don’t have to follow suggested routes or fuel solutions, unless you want to try & get bonuses.

I talked to a Melton driver up in Ok who had flatbed load of...walnut? logs. Full load and pretty heavy. No chains just straps and he couldnt figure out why they kept loosening up. 3 different drivers told him to use chains and he said "I only gotta drop this trailer 2hrs away at our yard in Tulsa, they'll be fine".

So if you're smarter than that guy, you'll be gtg lol.
