Watch what you say, and do. I just graduated from TMC orientation on the 16th. I had started on the 5th. We started with 38-40 students, and only 21-22 got hired. 15 or so got fired, the others quit. You have zero job security. Don't hit any cones, don't disrespect any instructor. George is a great guy, he will be your instructor the first 4 days. Then you get DON, he will expect and demand respect out of you while he treats you like crap. He knows his stuff, but do not disrespect this guy because you be fired or be put on the hotseat to be fired.
I graduated got my class photo on the 16th. I was at home waiting on a trainer for 3 days and I got one scheduled for this weekend.
Today they called and fired me because they just changed their hiring area. I didn't do anything wrong and I got fired.
You have zero job security, they promise you the world, and take it right from under you in one quick swoop. They fire a lot of people, I mean A LOT of people.
Heading to orientation Jan. 5th

Hey Josh... whats your definition of crap.... I am just curious. Whats he (Don) do..yell....scream....carry on....throw temper tantrums.... or...is he just big headed and knows that he has some type of influence over prospective hires....or does his attitude just plain suck.
Sorry that you got let go.....keep your head up.
Thanks.

You are absolutely right Josh. We just got done with George who was a lot of fun although the classroom rules SUCKED. We are moving on to Don who I have heard is a real PITA. I just got a new roommate tonight, he's been with TMC for 4 months and he told me they fired 170 drivers this past week and a half. I really hope the people who are taking it in the keyster from TMC can find another better job quick.

Hey, tell Don " Twinkie " says hi ... lol ! I got this nickname ... or rather, CB handle from him because I picked up the tarps like they were twinkies.

Don is a honest straight forward guy, he knows his stuff. He will train you like no other. Awesome instructor. He demands a lot out of you, and its his way or the highway. You will see what I'm talking about tomorrow morning in Classroom 1.

I say all applies, but that is the #1 answer.Fratsit Thanks this. -
Don's attitude is like that to "Weed out" the whining babies. Think of it like the marine corps. Some people find that hard to deal with, and those that do, probably won't make it in the real world of trucking.
Every rhyme has a reason. Don is a really good guy if you talk to him *After* you're done with orientation, and have your own truck.Fratsit Thanks this. -
Sorry to hear you got fired eckz and trucker josh. I'm heading out to Iowa tommorow morning and I gotta say it makes me a little nervous hearing about all these fireings. I hope I make it but just in case I don't I have a back up plan I'm working on.

Eckz,
I did not even think of it in that perspective, and it makes sence. Thanks for the feedback.

I wish you all the best over there. Just remember, listen and follow the rules and you should (Hopefully) be fine! And if not, remember that everything happens for a reason, or at least i believe it does. When one door closes 5 more will open. Keep your head up.
Keep us updated.
