volvo vnl 670

I used to drive one, back in my days with Covenant. I loved my VNL, rode really nice, great on fuel (consistently 6.5-8 mpg), and handles awesome. That said, it is a small truck, smaller inside (and out) than a Columbia, so I wouldn't recommend using it to run team (except maybe a husband-wife one). And Volvo's are notorious for having gremlins, esp in the electrical system, which can be annoying.

But if I was going to be an O/O, and was looking for an aero truck, the Volvo would be my first choice.

PS- The truck I drove had a fuller 'Lightning' 10 with a Cummins ISX ST2, 400hp.

 

your pictues of your volvo looks like a 610 , the 780 or the new 880 vt is real nice lots of room with 16L engine , able to go over most passes on cruise control , all truck have problems , the main problem with the volvo is the elec , to many things for the driver to play with i have seen the volvo in a bad headon crash and the driver walks away okay, i work at a volvo drealership

 

If your day does all his own maintenance the Volvo will be an issue. With the electrical problems and compact design it is hard to access certain parts of the truck. For fuel mileage I think it would be a sound investment.

 

I have 2 670's and one with the ved 12 is nothing but an electrical nightmare and injector hog. the other one with a 400 cummins is great, but they do have bad, bad elec problems

dont do it. I have 2 of them and besides the electrical problems, nobody and I mean nobody wants to work on them at a truck stop when they hear the name VOLVO. Just get a Pete 379EXHD with a 500 detroit, hell even walmart has parts for theose.

 

I would stay away if it had the volvo engine in it.
