I'm 60 years old. I am the son of a trucker. I have been around trucking all of my life. I have a very good idea of the timeline of trucking over these last 50 years. I doubt there are but maybe 2 or 3 more that posts comments in here that grew up in trucking and remembers going all the way back to the 60s. Then on top of this listening to stories of trucking in the 30s 40s and 50s. Most people in here do not have that perspective. That is why I made that comment.

    I’m a teamster.

No one wants to drive a truck anymore here. My job starts at 24 an hour and in four years you make 31 with a raise every 3 years after, ot after 8. FREE healthcare with no deductable 100% free. 401k with company match and pension.

We need 5 drivers still. We aren’t hurting but could use a few.

So why aren't people taking this route as drivers? Seems to surely beat the other options....

No idea. We don’t get it either. We think people don’t understand how construction trucking works and think you will work 18 hours a day or something.

There are other fossil butts in these forums. I chat with them a good bit. Example, who in here remembers cab cards and what trucking was like before IFTA? I also remember my dads truck had sometimes as many as 8 or 10 license plates on the front.

That too, flip a few switches instead of bump docks lol.

We just do a lot more mud bogging and driving on unstable ground.
