    Here's the Scenario:
Since November, I have had a local route in the Boise, ID area to 4 stores hand delivering 400-700 boxes a day. Its mostly Monday - Friday with some Saturdays. The job is supposed to have a co-driver with it. The problem is, somewhere between my manager and recruiting someone is telling potential hires the wrong information. Instead of saying the job starts at 0330, they are saying 0600 among other wrong information. A new person comes on board, its not what was advertised, and they bolt. As of date we have lost 5 drivers because of this. Its a pretty hefty job for one, but pretty easy for two.

What would you do? Go up above my bosses head? I don't want to quit because the hours are great and it allows me to try to start a side business. Any suggestions? Rant over.

They are giving out wrong info on purpose just to get someone hired. Do it enough times someone will eventually stay.

As for being frustrated. It's not that bad and your not the only one.

I get that might be a strategy, but its a crappy strategy. Its not a bad starting time. Not the best either. There is no way you will keep someone who is looking for a 6 a.m. gig unless they are desperate. Chances are that is not the kind of hire I want to be working with. The situation is great if we can land a third body: Oversight is minimal; work vacay and sick time out between three drivers; and limit Saturdays by rotating one person off. God knows. I'm tempted to spend money on Craigslist giving out the right info, so I can get someone to stick.

Be careful doing that, I don't know the legalities, but for some reason something dings in my head "don't do". I would ask your boss or something first. It might be defeating the purpose, but I don't know, something just tells me "don't do that". And for the record, I agree with you, it is B.S. That's why I don't like craigslist for jobs, especially in this industry.

I've gone over my bosses head before. I told him I was doing it. Good truck drivers are hard to find. They listened to me because they value what I do. They don't necessarily like me. But again they value what I can do.

Well, sometimes that’s necessary when there’s favoritism going on. :biggrin_25510:

TRUE...however serious repercussions can and will take place. like making one sit cuz he showed up late for work, and a less senior driver/worker gets the run. or working less hours, or told to stay home cuz there ain't enough freight.

pretty much only a union shop can afford an employee some protection not a non-union shop.

Thankfully we have a fairly decent HR department.
