I know that it is the economy and there are ways around it like a certificate of rehabilitation and I am already working on that one only a couple more weeks and I will know for sure. Got letters from previous employers and all that so its going to work out for whats best and I love to drive and won't be giving up anytime soon thanks for all the support and all that but what people seem to forget this country and alot of other ones were founded by people just like us,people with records and we made something of ourselves and i will do it for my family and for the ones who really ant to change and for the ones who don't then they are on their own thanks again and good luck keep the rubber side down.

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

I believe in "second chances" if people are willing to "stay the course" and do their best.
-
I agree with you on that Ron. If it's been years, and they have stayed out of trouble since, they deserve another chance.
-
I feel the same way...
I'm not proud of what I did 22 years ago...And it shouldn't be an issue now but with some companies it is...People change...Why cant they look at the track record???Or at the very least talk to you about it instead of just looking at what the paper says.
With one company, I had to point out the year in wich the offences happened. 1987. They saw the word felony and it was case closed until I pointed out the year...Then they said no problem...Duh~!
pjody459 Thanks this. -
Thank you guys very much I was in a bad place and about ready to give up but like everyone keeps telling me let your actions speak louder than words and right now I have a few options and am waiting to hear from them and then it will be good just have to be patient and as for the insurance it ain't any different if your a felon or not they look at your driving record not your felony record
that's what i've been told by a few owner operators and they have been in the industry for a long time but we will see how it goes

Try to stay possitive...'cause you will get more rejection...

Just be persistant and something will come around...
Try smaller companies...They tend to have less rules and a better open door policy...It worked for me...
Local too...

Pjody459. I too have been down that road . When I turned eighteen some friends and I broke into some house and businesses well to make a long story short its been 11 yrs ago. Ive had a few companies turn me down but once I got some experiance that all changed. I probably want ever be able to haul top secret military freight but I work for a company here in Alabama that doesnt hire people that have felonies just to show its about proving yourself. If someone tells you they dont hire felons hang up and try another, keep knocking on doors one will open. I would suggest to start by get your CDL at a privite school you can find them everyday and some of them want treat you to a hefty fee. Then when you get your CDL start by going to every trucking company in your home town. You will be surprised who will hire you when it comes to small trucking companies. Just to let you know you will start at the bottom of pay and all but once you get some experiance doors will open up for you.

I wanted to thank you for this useful post I think I have a job and just so people know Swift said they would hire me except that I already have my CDL they wanted me to go through their school and get it that way, but I am fairly certain that I have a job with an owner /operator who is willing to give me that one chance and that exp. that I am going to need to make it in this industry so thanks again for all the positive input and even the negative input was good it keeps me grounded thanks again guys i'll keep you posted and up to date
