I'm new to this site and i really like what i have found here.I am wanting to change my carreer and trucking is something I've dreamned of doing since i was a kid.I'm 47 years old and am a welder by trade have been at the same company for 11 years and am frankly sick to death of it.I make a decent living there,45,000 a year ayear plus good bennies. So this is a big decision for me but one i'm willing to make and to live with.could anyone help lead me in the right direction to go in as far as agood company to start with? i realize i will have to start at the bottom as far as pay and have no problem with OTR,but would like to stay from the bad companys out there if thats possible,if not i wiiling to suck it up for awhile if need be.
\ Thanks for your help.![]()

Hi and welcome!
Ditto what pony said, get lots of info before you leap, this is not the time to take risks, with the economy being what it is right now.
But get reading, find out what you need, and when you are good and ready, go for it!
And keep posting, let us know how you get on! -
Thanks all for the warm welcome.I'm reading lots of posts and doing all the research i can.Your right this is a bad time to take risks, making it even more important to go with the right company to start with.I have thought long and hard about pursuing this dream of mine and yeah it's a little ok alot scary to leave my present job as i am somewhat secure there but if we want something bad enough we gotta reach out and go for it right? don't wanna look back some day and wonder what i missed out on or what might have been.any encouragement here would be welcomed and also of course any wisdom from you old timers as well.
