I think I'll get a sticker for the windows that reads, "Even when the alarm system isn't armed, the resident of this house is."

I have stickers on my vehicles and my house that say "This property is owned by an armed American citizen. Absolutely nothing in here is worth dying for." :biggrin_25512: I bought them at the local gun shop.

I know you probably like where you live because it is "home" but that is one thing I love about my back woods state.
In La. a person can protect their property from imminent threat without fear of prosecution. If someone presents an imminent threat on my property and I felt I had to shoot him(or her) I would not have to drag them into the house or things I have heard others say. This does not mean a person can just shoot someone for being on their property. The definition of threat:
    1. An expression of an intention to inflict pain, injury, evil, or punishment.
    2. An indication of impending danger or harm.
    3. One that is regarded as a possible danger; a menace.
    Imminent Threat:
when the need for action is "instant, overwhelming, and leaving no choice of means, and no moment for deliberation."
If someone makes a threat without imminence you call the police. It would not be wise to shoot someone unarmed on your front porch.
The perimeters of my property are mine to protect just as my house is. I do not have to hide in a closet and shoot only if the door is opened. This is a good thing because I plan to take action long before a threat enters my home and my family is at risk.
This is the fundamental right that I feel citizens have against an oppressor.
The same rules apply on somone elses property. We do not have the right to bring imminent threat to anyone else or on someone elses property. In La. if there is a no weapons sign posted and you do not agree then go somewhere else or be at risk for arrest.
This does present a problem for a truck driver and the reason I do not carry in a big truck.
It is simple and easy to understand. I have the same right to expect that you will not come on my property armed as you do that I will not do the same.

as a wanna be noob i wouldnt feel comfortable carrying due to lack of knowledge of state laws and like.... but 3 things i will have in my truck ........ and as an old hippie traveling all over the country ive never had problems with

1 the best wasp spray you can find 20ft + if a cop ask you why you have it tell him you some times get trailers with wasp nest
2 handcuffs... its one thing to hurt someone trying to rob you its a whole different and very dangerous game of keeping them still for 20 min till cops decide to show up
3 blunt or sharp object of your chosing

again wasp spray is meaner than a 357 and doesnt make noise... you nail some one with it....... they WILL be showing up at a hospitol to be arrested

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you can get in just as much trouble for having a taser.
