Hello all, just thought I would take the hint and go ahead and do an initial post since joining. I am a CDL class A holder in the Vincennes, IN area. I have had my CDL's since a month after I turned 21. I went to school with Swift Trans in Oct. of 06. I completed my mentor training and had my own (company) truck in Jan 07. I drove on my own for about 3 months before my fiancee (now wife btw) and I couldn't handle the away time and I quit. I started looking for a local job around April and then found out what I have heard many have...local is hard to come by. I started working for Papa Johns to pay the bills in June of 06 and just now in Jan of 09 left them to work for a locally owned pest control company. I have kept my physical up to date and my driving record clean for the past 2+ years and kept an eye out for a new local driving job...but have come to kinda give up hope. Well, thought I would share my story and say hi to all the fellow wannabe's and veterans out there who visit this site. :biggrin_25525:

thanks for the info, will check it out. There is a Pepsi warehouse located here in Vincennes, but have never seen a driver or any job postings for hire. And thanks to everyone else for the warm welcome :)

Hey an Howdy JD! Welcome to the forum. Yep that's a familiar story... I know you want to drive, just keep trying and some times it is better to just walk in. Some local driving jobs go unadvertised 'cuz they seem to fill up before they need to post them. And in these time lots of folks looking for work they will just walk in and may-be get the job. I've seen it happen this way.
