You Sir, are correct. Here's a shot of the "Get Smart" door I had to drive into.

Yes my trailer was sticking out into traffic and did a good job of getting in everyone's way. And the blind back once inside was a real HOOT!
MY XM worked inside too, as well as my Phone. I was a little surprised about that. I thought about taking pics from the inside but figured that might not go over so well.

Speaking of SuperSnack, MIA!
Things must not be going too good for him. Haven't heard a peep from him for some time.
What gives SS! -
That was a killer for me yesterday. The empty call wouldn't send until I pulled out and there is absolutely no place to park. All I could do was to "guess" where my next load might come from (if there was any freight available) and head that way. Twenty minuets after pulling out the qualcom started beeping with a load offer and I had to find a place to pull over. Found a exit ramp, and of course, I was going the wrong way. I was thinking King of Prussia since I pickup there often, but had to flip around and head out to NJ. That turned my 60mi deadhead into 100. At least I didn't get that horrid "no freight" message. But then after covering dispatches backside on that Mint load I assumed they would be taking care of me today. -
Thanks for the pics. What a mess!
Yes, Pilot seems bad about clearing out their lots. Last month in Tumwater, WA, we were amused to watch trucks get stuck. Here is a picture of a Schneider truck that got stuck for a couple of days. He even put chains on and still couldn't get out. Also, please note that the blue screw was stuck as well. He had tried to get a pull through and spun out.
We had a load that we delivered that night at 10:30 pm. When we got there, they wanted us to go to the docks out back, and watched trucker try to back up to a door only to spin his tires. He put chains on and was able to dock. So we decided to do the same thing. It was a wise choice however because when another trucker parked next to us tried to get out, he couldn't. When they finished unloading us, we pulled out just fine. And then, when we were going back around the corner the way we came in, we saw a couple trucks had spun out so we had to sit a good hour before we could leave.
When we went back to Pilot, we noticed that the power was out and a few more trucks were parked funny... Probably got stuck too. We tried to get the same parking spot but someone had taken it. We figured they would. But after about 2 hours later, my husband was getting out of the truck to see if Pilot lights were back on so we could go in. (yes they locked us out because of power out). The lights were on but he came back in and said, 'someone left our favorite spot' so we grabbed that spot before going in.
Stay Safe! I hear it's pretty bad SE right now with the ice storms.

Evertruckerr, I was wondering where you parked your truck for home time here in Wilmington? Something I was thinking about since there is no way I can park one where I live.

I was always able to get a spot at the Shell TS on Hwy 421, just below the Isabella Holmes Bridge. But they only have enough room for 10 trucks or so. You have to get there early in the day. If you show up in the evening there is little chance of finding a spot.
The Comfort Inn by College and Market also has truck parking and will let you park it overnight for a fee. At least they used too.
You can also check out the truckstop on Hwy 74 about 10 miles east of Leland. They have plenty of parking and charge $5/night.
Not really many options, I hope one of those will work for you.DriverBill Thanks this. -

It's surprising how easy it is to get stuck with one of these trucks. Especially when you are empty. Trucks were being pulled out all morning where I was at. I had enough sense to back into a slight incline (I went out of my way to make sure I did this yesterday) and had no problem rolling out. The drivers that backed into the spots with a slight downhill slant to it were having a rough morning.
ICE STORM! You better believe it. I'm on a run from Ohio down into Louisiana (can wait to see how long it takes to get a load out of there). The CB was buzzing about how bad the roads were around Cincinatti and the resulting traffic backup of 20-30 miles of bumper to bumper traffic. So I opted to take a different route. This brought me directly through the heart of where the ice storm hit. Roads were fine because the storm was two days past, but huge areas are out of power (and my be for up to 6 weeks). So many people are without power, it must me horrible with these temperatures. Along I-55 in in MO and AR no one has power. There was a stretch of 100 miles or so where no fuel was available except for a TA that had their own generator.
The Ice is still covering everything. It was dark as I drove through, but could see enough to know that it was a deviating storm. I could see where many trees had fallen onto the Interstate and road crews had been by to cut them back enough so that they were no longer in the road.
I held up for the night about an hour north of Memphis and the ice is still covering everything down here. I'll get a couple of pic in the morning. Should make for some great shots.Drive-a-Mack Thanks this. -
Thanks for the info that will be helpful!

I have a good friend who drives for Crete and he must have been pretty close to where you were running. He talked about the ice and no one having any power too. Said it was incredible to see no light anywhere. He stopped for the night at a TS that was closed due to no electricity. Take care out there.

Be careful out there. That being said, you mention the deadhead of 100 miles as opposed to "no freight". Is dead head a bad thing? Do you not get paid for those miles or is it paid at a different rate?
