If you have your own authority & don't have or are restricted in your neighborhood/hoa to park a rig during home time - where do you guys park them?
Negotiate with your companies closest to home terminal? This may work for an O/O operating under that companies authority but what if your completely an independent O/O?
Do you negotiate with commercial parking lots (supermarkets, mini-malls) - contact the commercial property owners/property managers? Obviously, at a terminal there's security (I'm assuming secure entry gates+cctv) this is something that would have to be mandatory with any place to create a monthly or weekly space rental agreement.
What about Loves or TA - can you leave a complete truck (truck+trailer) unattended at a gas station truck stop? Has anyone worked out an arrangement with them? I have a Love's near me...
Thank you
Maybe a silly question, where do O/O (authority+)park their rigs when at home with no place to park

Our home had a few acres and a bit of gravel large enough to hold a 18. So the whole thing goes right onto the land down our gravel road when the season is right with no rain to get it stuck on the grass.
Warning, must have really good neighbors when you crank at 2 am. They know it will be almost a year before they see you again so... bon-voyagee.Mattflat362 and RussianBearTruckeR Thank this. -
I rent a space from a small local company with more land than trucks.

Rent a spot at a drop yard or vehicle storage lot. I pay 120.00 monthly.

thanks for the $# - Security is paramount, CCTV+gates or electric fencing is mandatory?...
Should you rig your truck with a ring or some sort of security system or you depend on insurance for that or the rental place offers some liability protection? Or you just wing it? -
So basically just be resourceful, drive around your neighborhood or 10 mile radius to see a potential secure parking spot with enough space & start making calls -
Appreciate the feedback! Common sense, I know

There are special yards for truck parking. I personally drove around and found a commercial warehouse where they have some space behind the building. Spoke to the owner and now park there

I found a spot 4.2 miles from my house. The guy has 100's of acres of land and several OO and 6 GFS trucks. No security but enough people coming and going that it feels OK. I roll in and out at very random times and check on stuff often.
I tell you it really is nice when you finally find a good spot where you can at least turn a wrench now and then .
600 per year for my set up....
I drove around looking for 2 weeks ++Last edited: Jul 18, 2018

Thanks - Down the road I'd like to do the same - drive around, find a secure place (gates, fence, cctv, etc) within 10 miles & negotiate monthly rent...
A contract is needed to protect your rig from incident/theft with property owner? -
Nice! I like the sounds of $50/month & its deductible!
Mattflat362 Thanks this.
