Yes, you get paid % of what the truck makes. Example, a local load of BMW pays the driver $24.30 a car. If you take that same load 600 miles it pays around $75.00 a car. The only time you get paid more for certain cars is if you load Mercedes SUVs and Maybach. Volvo XC90 also pays a premium because you can't pull a full load of them on our trucks. I have a Mercedes SL65 on my truck right now with a $200,000 sticker price and it still only pays me the same as the other cars in the load.

i'll assume your talking about the new, production model Ford GT, incorrectly called the GT40 by 90 percent of EVERYBODY :error:

but i completly agree... it would be hard on the nerves loading/unloading something like that... the thing that would suck the worst is not actually being able to DRIVE something like that. [IMG]

Try putting on an SL65 Mercedes with the V12 and it's sitting in the back of the lot with noone around. Tempting isn't it?

As you may recall, I worked for BMT for about a month. That said, I remember the first time I loaded out of Curtis Bay by myself and had that exact scenario come up. I did get it up to 45mph before I had to slow down for the guard shack. God that is an awesome machine. Don't think I'll ever pay 6 figures for a car though...not so long as I'm a truck driver anyway.

I've been a good boy with the cars so far.;) I think $196,000 for any vehicle is crazy. I guess some people just have it to burn. I don't personally know any of those people.

Lease it, probably better deal than purchase, MCI bus with 3 axles a better investment but about 300 K there.
. that was in the construction near OK City, rear ended another trailer 60 mph. in construction area.

I just gotta tell ya about the great things happening to me here at PMTG! I never imagined that I would love hauling cars so much! As you know I drive 2101 which is a 2002 International Navistar day cab. I can only hold 7 cars and it's different than Dave's truck which is an 8 pack truck. I had a slider crack on my number 6 deck Monday night while loading for Tuesday. Well it was getting late and I was going to the motel in Jersey City anyway so I loaded with the broken slider and went to the motel until the next morning and then ran to upstate NY to deliver. I got everything off without any problems and called in empty and was told to go get a room and bring the truck in in the morning to get fixed. I waited around pretty much all day waiting for the mechanic to show and weld the deck back together. While waiting, I had a conversation with the terminal manager about moving into an 8 pack truck and the outside shot of getting one of the 9 car units that are primarily regional trucks for the northeast. He said that I do a good job and that he would approve of the move if asked. Later that day I mentioned it to my team leader(dispatcher) and he said he would look into it. Yesterday, I finished reloading in Baltimore for today and called to get my move number for the load and asked if he had mentioned things to management and he told me that he got me a 9 car truck which is a 2005 Sterling with a sleeper! Here I am 2 months into the job and PMTG has enough faith in me to give me such a nice, money making unit like that. I'm not sure yet when or where I will be picking up the truck since next week is hectic with the launch of the new BMW X5 and with Thanksgiving coming up the following week it may be 2-3 weeks before I can move into it but I'm looking forward to it!! I have heard alot of negative comments from other drivers here since I came aboard but when a company just makes a move like this for me, I have to take the negativity with a grain of salt. When some of these same guys ask me how did I get a 9 car already, I will just say,"I asked." PMTG truly is a good company to work for. I really like it here.:smt045
