I'm looking for reasons why my drivers side tire wears the way it does.
1/2 to3/4 of the tire will wear will have like 4-5 32nds more than the other 1/4 to 1/2. I'm talking around not side to side. It happens about every 6-8 mo and makes the truck really shutter in the front as you can imagine. I put a new hub on that side not trying to fix this but my wheel seal kept leaking due to pitting. New bearings came with it. I just put new shocks on I don't know if that will help old ones did not seem bad but can't hurt. The alignment seems good. Could it be the tire its self being junk they are not a name brand but I forget what they are some Chinese brand. It's a 99 classic if that makes a difference.

Dave_in_AZ and RSB34 Thank this. -
It sounded like you need new tires. It's ok to use the Chinese brand tires, as long as you keep your alignments and balances updated. You can get 150,000 -200,000 miles roughly depending on how you drive, and whether you keep every greased (5th wheel etc). The American will last longer, but you pay a much prettier penny.Dave_in_AZ Thanks this.

Thanks mine don't look like any of them. You can't really see it un less you put a tread guage on it. In 22 years driving I never saw anything like it.

I'm thinking turns out my tire guy has continental steers and American made Kelly's for $309 installed. The chineeses ones were $280 not that big of a differance. Kinda shot my self in the foot with them.Dave_in_AZ Thanks this.

You got a nice deal..... For $309 each, you could have got Americam made tires? I'd say you were penny smart and pound foolish lol

The tire shop up here buys in tractor trailer loads he has a dairy barn he stores them in. The nice thing is he passes the savings on to us. Yes I messed up twice with two sets never bothered to ask about other prices. I heard a number I liked and took it.

It ok brother we live and learn. How long did you run with the Chinese tires?RubyEagle Thanks this.

Prob. Around 100k I could have got twice that out of American maybe more.

I'd say it's either mis mounted tire or junk tire. To look for mis mount you'll see a ridge or line on the sidewall near the rim. Does the rim look off center?
Every tire has a heavy spot jack up the axle and spin the wheel by hand. Does the wear spot wind up on bottom?
