The trainer I was with for 2 months when I was employed by Werner Enterprises worked for Midwest Coast Transport for quite some time and loved it. After I finished my training with Werner, I was told there were no positions available and I was never able to get a truck. I've applied to many companies since then and have yet to get hired anywhere. I became friends with my trainer after my time with him. He contacted Midwest Coast Transport for me recently, but they said they weren't hiring any students. I guess I picked the wrong time to get into the trucking industry. I've got bills to pay and its looking more and more like I'm going to be stuck in a hole working some crap job to just get by for who knows how long until I can finally get myself back into the OTR trucking industry. I can't stand being stuck here at home any longer. >_<

Can't you go back to Werner even if you have to start over? Did it not work out well? Did they DAC you bad?

I haven't seen my DAC, but I'm planning on contacting Werner first tomorrow to find out about getting rehired. I didn't leave on bad terms or anything like that. I was with a trainer for 2 months and had no problems, then took a leave of absence when they told me they couldn't get me a truck. A month later they had to mark me off as "voluntarily quit" because I still hadn't gotten a truck. I contacted my recruiter ever few days like I was supposed to but never got anywhere.

If they'll hire me again, I'll do it in a heartbeat. I don't care that I'll be stuck on a truck for a couple months with someone again with no guarantee of a job after completion of my training hours. I just want to get back out there on the road as soon as possible. I miss it so much and I'm starting to get bored out of my mind sitting around at home with nothing to do except eat, get fat, and think about how I'm going to run out of money by the end of February...

Also, sometime in February I'll be hitting 90 days of being officially unemployed. I'm worried that I won't be able to get hired anywhere without taking a refresher course, in which case I don't have the money to do that...

Ugh I should have never gotten my CDL and stayed in college >_<

Once you get out of community college and go on to a university, the guaranteed funding sure is nice. Refund checks about 7k per semester. With a part time job it's quite comfy, not to mention sweet tax returns since that 14k 'income' is completely ignored.
