Why would you take 3 breaks when you only need 1 mandatory 30 min break? Specially if you are locally. If you otr then I would be more concerned about my 70

 

He probably wouldn't say much. He'd be too busy laughing at you while he wrote you a ticket for trying the oldest trick in the book. Plus, falsifying your log book is an expensive ticket.
You have to account for your time and even the greenest rookie cop will know that somewhere in there you have to show unloading time.
Play it safe, log it like you run it. If you can't get your work done in the hours available you need to have a talk with your dispatch.

Why would you take 3 breaks when only one 30 minute break is mandatory? I don’t even worry about my 70 specially if you local only time I worry bout that is if I’m gonna work a 6th day then I need to make sure I have enough time for what ever loads they give me

 

You're falsifying your log is what you're doing. Don't do it.
If a cop has been around any length of time at all he's wise to your trick.
How can you show off duty? Does the truck unload itself? Somebody has to be in attendance and that somebody is you.
It's good that you're trying to save your hours but you're going about it in the wrong way.

 

There’s a few otr tanker drivers that go off duty for everything but pre/post and drive time and they have never had problems.
I don’t think it’s a huge deal but guess I wanted to see what y’all had to say about it.

That’s exactly why I’m trying to save my 70. I do 6 days a week... been close a couple times.

 

Do you get paid for your off duty time? If you're in a local furl hauling gig and you need to work 70 to make a living you're working for the wrong company.

 

Otr you can get away with it because you can log 15 on duty for unloading and the rest off duty and if you’re ever questioned you just respond it was a customer load/unload. But with local, especially local fuel that won’t work.

 

I’m paid by the load. Make about 75k working 5 on 2 off, but I make 85-90k working 6 on 1 off.

 

The rules for otr vs. local don’t differ. Otr cant drive past 14 hours on duty.. so I’m not sure where you came up with that.
The only time otr would differ from local was if the local driver fell under the short haul exemption.
