I been working for Gainey for 4 months when i got fired on monday for idleing my truck! The whole time i been running with this company i have been harrassed by the fuel dept for my idleing and my mpg! They keep me running in the north and maybe 2-3 runs in the south! So i made my last trip on thursday nite and they brought me in to the shop to get work done on the truck and when i got it out on saturday evening then i went to the closet walmart to get groceries cuz i thought i was going back out then the next thing i know is that monday morning i got message across the qualcomm telling me to come to the yard and that they were letting me go cuz i was not working on my idleing and my mpg. So i went to the truck thinking that i was gonna stay warm til i got everything packed up but when io got back someone from the shop had disabled my truck so i spent 4 hours cleaning out my truck in the freezing cold. They were gonna get me a bus ticket home but they would not pay to ship my stuff home. I had been trying to get my dispatch to route me home so i could clean out the truck a little bit but he never would cuz he told me that freight was slow and he had nothing going that way. I would have never thought that i was gonna get fired! This company is a bad company to work for cuz they dont pay for tolls, do pay for anything for the truck, and they dont like sending u to the shop for repairs.

GTS is a company to avoid ...the 30% idle is based on total run time ,which even when running good does'nt even cover your sleeper birth portion of a 10hr ,and they do not have apu or pay for idleaire ,but how often do you run good at GTS ...lol

Toll roads they will find any excuse not to pay to run them . Expenses like a headlight or scale ticket GTS will find any excuse not to pay .

I drove for GTS for 9 months and earned $14,000 gross ,so it's clear I sat most of the week every week every month ,and my idle was high...go figure...But I was roped into the Grand Rapids terminal to chat with Maurice about my idle ,however my MPG was 6.5, which is hard to do with their older pos trucks ,but I had an 08 T-2000. Maurice tried to have me sign a charge back plan, but I'm not that stupid ...Anyway my relationship with my DM was good ,and my performance was 100% ,so no good excuses existed for termination...then they started "losing" my logs ...I remember comming home on 8/10/08 and leaving on 08/13/08 ,and on 08/14/08 being asked by Steve (logs) where 20 days of june were ,well I told steve I sent them ,but why are you now just looking for logs from june which is 2 months past ,And Steve said just redo the logs ,And I asked how since I left the house after hometime with only current months log book and I'm 700mi from home ? ...Steves reply was to get my fuel times and get something together or he would be forced to shut me down ,so I managed to do the logs ,and then less than 3 weeks later Steve has me call him regarding ..."duplicate" logs ,well it seems the origional logs (magicly) showed up and now they had 2 sets of logs for june ,which did not match each other aside from fuel times...GO FIGURE ...Well I resigned ASAP ,as they said next time I'd be termed ...Honestly I was quiting anyway ,but like you I was wanting hometime first to empty the truck .

If you mean for rehire ...Why ?...But you would first see if you'RE eligable for rehire then if so you just apply ,and see if they hire you,And if not rehireable you might try sending a letter to the hr dept, But again ...WHY would anyone bother... you make more flipping burgers at the King than GTS .

I've seen the light! :yes2557: Thanks again to this site, and the drivers posting here!
I've been trying to figure out who to sign on with, and it sure sounds like I should skip Gainey (and RUN not walk). If enough drivers can post their experience, the rotten companies out there will get stale enough to starve out!
Good days and miles to all of you - and thanks to no end!! :biggrin_25525:

I agree, Gainey transportation is a bad place to work...I was involved in a accident after being employed with them for just over 3years, I rear ended a car at a toll plaza....I wasn't going too fast, but it caused damages to the the car's rear bumper.... at the time of the accident, both parties of the other vehicle were asked if they were hurt and if the needed medical attention and they said no....to make a long story short, it turned out that they filed a lawsuit for injuries, i worked for 3 more days later then went to hanover,PA and was "suspended", that's there loophole they use instead of terminating you...to this day i still haven't recieved my vacation pay which by law emplooyees are entitled to....

How did you rear-end a car at a toll plaza, anyway? I'm always hypercareful in toll plazas, because of the high level of idiocy I find.

Don't bet the farm on that one. Check your home state's online employment site, and your employee hand book. It differs state to state, company to company.
