I hope I'm doing the right thing. In an effort to better support my family I'm going to be leaving my easy hourly low paying but lots of ot driving job and going to orientation at DHT August 6th. I've read every post in here about the company and read a lot of positive things about them. I will be going out with someone as a team for a refresher for 2 weeks at .26 a mile then starting at .40 a mile plus several bonuses. I'm really nervous! If it doesn't work out for whatever reason I will be going back home jobless and me and my family will be totally screwed!

Think positive and enjoy the experience. Several years from now you will wonder why you were nervous.
Puppage Thanks this. -
Did you talk to any of their solo drivers and ASK them how many miles they were getting.. how much they sat still.. how often they got home??
Get it from the horse.
Not the Stable Master.
3,000 miles a week x .40 is $1200 or $62k yr.
That's plenty doable.
There are also LOTS of jobs that pay more than .40 as well.
Do you get paid to load and unload?
Detention?
Layover?
Drop/hook?
All of this adds up.
Guys that just run on mileage pay, and that's it, work for free A LOT.
Talk to some of their drivers -
My boyfriend and I started driving for them as a team in November. It's one of the best decisions we ever made. I don't have experience with them as a solo, but I can tell you teams earn more here and the bonuses are better. We will be making over $80k each, with an average of 4 days of home time a month. Feel to ask any questions you may have.

How much does a solo driver make? How much if I have green eyes? LOL

Good luck, Mr Adrian70
