Problem with pickups (especially the Dodge/Ram with Cummins) is everyone thinks they're worth minimum $10k JUST because its a diesel. The truck could be a rusted out, beat to #### 500k mile Dodge 250 4x4 and the guy will want $12k for it because "its got a Cummins with a 5 speed manual."
Have you considered a gas 3/4 or 1 ton? Cheaper than a diesel pickup. They certainly don't have the pulling power of a diesel and drink more fuel but a few thousand dollars in cost difference likely makes up the cost difference in fuel economy.Lonesome Thanks this. -
It might take a little work but you can pick up a older Freightliner FL80 box truck for under 10K, pull the box off it, find or build a work bed and install a 5th wheel or gooseneck ball.

In Oregon you can license a diesel tractor as a toter and avoid a lot of regulations for a commerical tractor.
