Didn't kill them that way! That was the party spot! Besides, diving from Rock 8 is deep water. That rock actually has a big 8 painted on it.

Gawd, that brings back (hazy) memories!! I got to be an excellent 'rock climber' between 10th and 12 grades! Sorry to hijack...

Magnum is an above average company. You could do much, much worse.

I'm absolutely a newbie at Magnum, but I'll throw my .02 in here again. I just finished orientation and training with Magnum and was assigned my own truck 2 days ago. I'm on home time now awaiting my first dispatch on Monday. I've only been there a few weeks, but everything I've seen, been told, and everyone I've met has only reinforced my belief that I made the right decision in choosing Magnum. Everyone there has been super nice, they have genuine regard for their drivers, their equipment is good and kept in excellent repair, my trainer was great, etc. As ton bundle stated, you could do much, much worse.

    fuzzface,

Are you still out there? How's it going? I just finished my training with Magnum and was assigned my own truck. I'm home now and hope to start running on Monday. I didn't have much internet access during training, but I'm hoping to be online more frequently now that I'm in my own truck.

    landene,

Thanks, guy! I've thought about calling you several times but I wasn't sure you'd remember who I was, LOL. I'm almost 50 yrs old and had never previously been to Chicago, now I've been through there 4 times in the past week! You'll have to invite me over for dinner... I'm guessing I'll be through there lots in the future :)

Whats the starting pay at Magnum and is it no-touch freight? Also do you have to live near a terminal to be hired by Magnum?

    DriverBill,

I honestly don't have a clue as to starting pay at Magnum for an experienced driver. I do know that driver's pay is negotiated individually, so you'd just have to give their recruiter a call to discuss that with him. I don't think that you're required to live near a terminal to be hired, as long as you live close by their freight lanes. I'm about two hours northwest of their Greensboro terminal, so you're likely as close to G'boro as I am. They do, however, run a ton of freight right by my house. I would encourage you to give them a call... I don't think you could go wrong.

A couple of drivers I've spoken with have commented that they could likely get a little higher rate per mile elsewhere, but they stick around because they really like Magnum. Drivers are treated with respect, we have plenty of miles, even in this economy, and everyone I've spoken with there is very happy.

Gavin out of the Fargo terminal is an excellent dispatcher. Top notch. I don't think he works directly with the drivers anymore.
