good
hwy 35 is a much flatter, easier drive than goin down 93, which has a few large hills, steep grades, and not so fun corners
how the local residents figure 93 is safer is beyond me, but im sure it has something to do with the fuel tanker that rolled there last year (i accidently got named in the lawsuit.....reported runnin into the tens of millons)
"In the aftermath, many east shore residents took up again a longstanding desire to force some or all trucks to use wider, safer, more-modern - and longer and less fuel-efficient - U.S. Highway 93 on the west shore of the lake."
--from the article
makes sence huh.....make us get off a fedrally funded highway to protect thier property values on the lake -
ya know.. the movie title "much ado about nothing" comes to mind. these people want to spend tax money to setup a portable weigh station, increase DOT patrols for what?? 2 fuel truck accidents since 1975??? find a road w. that few wrccks in NC and i'll give ya a cookie!! lol
i wouldnt mind running a bypass thru there.. so long as they lose their federal dollars for pulling freight traffic off their road around their lake (or laying a tanker truck full of "shut your crying mouth up" into the lake....
