your certain your electric door actuator has not broken? The more common failure of these trucks is the for plastic on the motor to crack and the motor will not move the door. Also in rare cases your HVAC box can fail internally, and the doors can stick. Did you check the electric motor and box, and move the nob by hand first? Did you actuate the mode selector on the HVAC controller and watch the actuator move while changing the mode?

When I turn the key, air comes out the main vents, then I hear a bunch of clicking noises and I see the air door under the hood close. Then it comes out the defrost only...this sucks..

HeavyD, How in the hell do you get access to the top actuator that controls the gears for the defrost/head/feet actuator? I believe there is an issue with the gears on one of our trucks, but I cant get access to one of the screws on the actuator. So, now the HVAC system throws a code that one of the actuators may be stuck and the compressor doesn't kick on. It's a 2011 Transtar w/ a MF13 engine.

Yes, that is a very tight spot. I use one of those small ratchet wrenches that you can put hex driver bits into. I think its a Torx 15 or 20.

So there isn't an easier way to try to come from the top by pulling the dash apart or something? I just feel like this wasn't thought all the way through when they built the truck.

My O5 4300 just started cycling, when I turn fan on it comes out the floor, then vent then defroster. So I can’t figure out where my problem lies. The actuator works the doors but I’m unsure how the system knows the actuators position with only two wires going to it.

When you turn the key to the on position, normally it will cycle through the different positions. If you set your setting to the front vents, where does the air come out of? It could be that the module that controls the settings could be bad.
