I grad. from C!-Indy New Years Eve. The previous two classes had hard times finding a ride. Usa being their first company of choice, (must be supporting the school heavy) is now only hiring a few from each class. I was luck and had previous college and clean no tickets/felonies.
It is getting very rough to find a ride in Kentuckiana. The only company still pursuing me from 10 pre-hires from another school I went to (finance fell through) is TMC.
Keep who you have until the economy picks up. Newbies like me, have a good work history and clean records, kiss butt and hope like.......
edit: report Monday 01-12-09 to Ohio Terminal for Orientation.

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

I have to say that post is pretty confusing...........The edit gives better information,Lol. Are you saying that you are going to the vandalia orientation with USA?
-
I have passed USA Trucking orientation tests and will be going on the road tonight w/ a trainer (pick up at the Dayton Terminal at 2000hr/8pm). I will update as I can.
Things have worked out well so far and have treated me alright so far. I must say this, the old truck I road tested in drove better than any of the school trucks or testers truck at DOT. Hope for the best we'll see. -
any updates yet?
-
I have been with my trainer and have crossed 26 states in every weather pattern out there. I have crossed both ranges of mountains on both sides of the states. I have decided fast food is garbage and will get you in the bathroom every 50 miles until gone from your body.
I will take my test next week and get my own truck. I feel and see freight picking up without government help. OH to WA to TX to CT.... 6300 miles team in one week. about 130 hrs driving (line 3) since I started.
Back to the truck stop and the truck, just passed by the house. -
Hey, keep up updated, bro. Things sound good ! Best of luck to you as well.
-
I am going to orientation in arkansas with them.I hope there trucks are better than werners.

for all of the students on here, take into consideration the fact that some of the companies will test you by putting you in a not so good truck so to speak, to see what kind of driver you are going to be, if you complain right off the bat they think your a complainer and a whiner so take heed and try to stick it out a while till you earn your keep. things will turn out better if you keep that in mind.
good luck to you all

Well got to AR and drove around. They said I was safe and drive pretty good. They got me a ride w/ a driver to pick up a truck from an "ex" employee's house.

He tossed me the keys and said good luck. It was a gently used 9400i. Floats easy or dbl clutch depends on the mood.
I have but one bad thing to say and its not USA's fault, getting home sucked. I needed a load heading toward S. Indiana. It took a extra two days to get one. Freight is picking up but slowly.
Hate to try getting stuff from terms, no comcks, logbooks, permit dept is either slow or lazy. FM is good to work with. Breakdown actually helped alot with an empty trailer that had two flats on p/u.
So far so good. Will keep updating now I will have some days off now and then.
NEW PEOPLE AND THOSE LOOKING AT USA :While I have had a good run so far just means I'm lucky. You may had it like me or I know some who had it bad. You get what you make of it. It is the same +/- at all companies. Learn, drive safe and legal, and practice your 45 dock backing. It's a give and take job.
-
And the trucks are very very very used trucks to test with. After the first set of bucking and grinding you get the feel of them and they take that into consideration when testing. All in all it wasn't to bad. HATE the bunkhouse!! Find a shop guy and sleep in a truck if they let you.
Last but not least try the breakfast buffet at the Meadows (hotel), nice.
