I'm planing on ordering new car carrier (sleeper) but I can't make a decision between peterbilt, western star or volvo. Maybe anyone can share your experience with any of this trucks? I'm mostly hauling used cars from auctions and lease returns but sometimes POV. I never owned any of them so they kinda new for me. I'm currently driving freightliner columbia with ez7509. I heard that western star heavy on steer tires. Am i correct? Thank you

Have heard the same about ws being heavy as well. Know a couple on here run them, so maybe they can answer that question better.
Only wanted to add, make sure which ever mfg you choose has an excellent service network in the area you run. Even warranty work gets expensive if they have you waiting a week or two.KANSAS TRANSIT Thanks this. -
My limited experience with Peterbilt shops has been less than stellar. Fortunately I have a Detroit so I only go to Peterbilt for Paccar parts warranty issues. If I were sleeping in the truck I think I would want the extra space a Western Star gives you. That said I love my Peterbilt and all the owner ops I know with sleeper trucks run Peterbilts and seem to like them.

I've driven volvos and peterbilts.the volvos we have live in the shop but the volvo shops are fast .volvos are the heaviest trucks in the fleet Our petes are the lightest. But the western stars have the most room and the highest price. I think peterbilt gives you the most options specs wise out of the three.

The volvo 430 I had was almost always 14k plus on the steers. I've never had a Western Star but they have a lower cab height from the factory than the Petes do. Peterbilt will have the best resale value. As a driver I'd rather have a Peterbilt. I love mine.

Thank you for your replies. Most likely I'll be ordeing peterbilt . Mostly because of resale value. But another question high rail or cx 09 80 feet? Im running ez 7509 and I like it bc of quick loading and unloading . I really would like to do 10 car loads sometimes with high rail but my biggest concern is the weight . My concern about 80 footer is I'm mostly running in NE and I think it can be very hard to get in and out of the dealerships and especially to pick up and deliver POV.
I spoke with a few dealers one of them offering high rail another dealer offering 80 footer. Both trucks I believe 264 wheel base. Dealer that offers high rail saying truck and trailer will be under 45k full of fuel and that cx 09 will be under 44k. Does it sounds right ? ThanksLast edited: Jul 30, 2018
