1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Have had my Class A CDL for about 15 years. Worked as HHG Contractor OTR on and off the entire time (some was local, but contracted consistently with the same company). Have been offered hauling freight for them, but the work is not consistent enough. I’d like to get OUT of the moving business and find a position I can stay with until I retire.

I don’t even know if there’s something like this out there:

    • I’m in Columbus, OH - I mainly want to stay Midwest, east coast, south, southeast - no west coast or NYC/NE
    • I’d like to make it home weekends.
    • 1099 - I’d consider a lease purchase if the situation was right. I’ve been basically leasing the company’s equipment where I am and operating as an O/O expense wise (paying for fuel, insurance, repair escrow, etc deductions).
    • Net $2000+/week. I realize some weeks might be $1700, some might be $2500, but I can’t make it averaging $1200-1500/week.

I don’t need/want any benefits or anything like that. I have a great driving record, no accidents, been with the same company 7 years and the one before that was 17 years. Had a recruiter laugh at me when I told him what I wanted pay wise. Then he got pissed when I wouldn’t come work for one of his companies. Maybe I am asking for too much?

    Thanks!
