    I've been driving tractor trailers for a local fuel company for about three years. It's not bad. Start at 5 am, weekends off in the summer, no money though. But 15-17 hour days, 6-7 days a week, 80+ hours a week in the winter, we don't run logs. Ive been looking around at jobs in the Newburgh NY area. While I'm certain i won't find a day job with weekends off i'm looking for something less seasonal. Ive been seeing ads for LTL companies like R+L, XPO, FedEX, UPS, NEMF. And tanker companies like Patriot and Coastal. Does anyone have any info for example pay, hours, days off, company culture?

    Yes, UPSF is no longer in the freight business----we are in the numbers business and only care about numbers, numbers, numbers. We've forgotten our roots and where we've came from.

    Still pays ok though after you make top rate..........

    skinnytrucker and Texas_hwy_287 Thank this.

    2) UPSF no longer has P+D drivers; Instead, we have P+A(d) drivers: That is, Pickup, Appointment and if you can squeeze a few actual Deliveries in. (Because we have it setup so that there's no TIME to make your deliveries.......)

    UPSF doesn't give a crap about customer service and really doesn't care about residential deliveries (forgetting that many of the people who recieve residential deliveries WORK in management at places we pickup and deliver to..............)

    Not necessarily mad, just telling it like it is.

    More later.

    @J Wilson going to LTL with no experience usually will start you between 21 to 22 dls and you will top out at 3yrs. Most days you will work 10 hrs a day. As far as deliveries it depends on your route but you will get close 7 deliveries and also pick ups depends on the are you are assigned but typically close to 6 p/u. Out of all those ltl companies you mentioned they all have their pro and cons so measure you research and then make your decision. Again those numbers i provide as far as pick ups and deliveries and pay are Texas numbers so measure you ask whoever you going with whats the expectation.

    Good luck.

    ODFL has a terminal in Newburgh. I'd start with that and call the terminal manager. Good luck.

    Uh oh money talk:oops::eek:

    At my hub all city drivers start at $22.56 and after 3 years the top pay right now is $28.95. For road starting pay is .54 cents per mile and top pay is either .68 or .70 per mile.

    i noticed at the truckinboard website, that different FedEx Frt terminals have different pay. Does this mean the top rate is different also?
