No, No. He didn't pass. I'm apologize if I made it sound like that. He is still living life as he wants to. And the dang thing is, he smoked and was an avid indulger of adult beverages until 5 or 6 years ago. To this day, the only meds he takes is half of a blood pressure pill. That's it. Nothing else. Most everyone else I know has to take a great many more meds than that, myself included.

The part about 4 years after he retired was simply to say, he has always been active, doing something. Four years after not climbing into a truck, he decided he was not the type to sit around and do nothing. He started driving again just for something to do.

I talk to him several times a week and tell him how much fun he is missing out on by not being OTR anymore. This forum's automatic filter would censor his usual response to that. :mooh: :mwink:

And before I forget, let me finish with these thoughts:

First, congratulations on 43 years in the industry.

Finally, to all of you thinking about retirement: retire while you are still healthy enough to enjoy your retirement. Yes, like my dad, there are only so many fish you can catch and only so many gardens you can grow, but hang up the keys while you can still do what you want to do, even if it means driving a log truck or dump truck just to keep the boredom away. Enjoy life while you can. I've seen so many people who, when they finally retire, can't even walk to the mailbox. Their plans to do things after they retire completely shot because their health (or lack thereof) makes their plans for them.

Great post 88 Alpha, My wife will be 71, im in my mid 60`s , and we have plans to do things when I retire, but my knees are shot, had Shingles, lost vision, then it came back after 7 months (that was a nightmare). The most important thing right now is to keep the best health insurance on my wife and I. Hearing your dad got back in the truck is great, I know the feeling he went through, is started back in 74, and at the end of my road driving, I cant stop right now. its a good industry right now, you just have to find the right gig to make it all work. Thanks bud
