I’m just thinking if it has an APU and a 120 outlet box in the sleeper, in my experience that is an indication of an APU with AC output option.tscottme Thanks this.

My Volvo has a plug under the bunk. I was excited. Thought it had an Inverter. My shop told me it was for external power (where you would get that I don't know). Maybe truck stops will wise up and get plugs like they used to have, although it only helps them if they sell the plug in.
-
That is what I'm hoping - if I could just figure it out! None of the buttons seem to fit for AC power (just A/C for air conditioner), and scrolling through the menu options was also fruitless.
-
Yeah. Instead of an inverter, shore-power-only would be SUPER HELPFUL! Because, as we all know, truckers ALWAYS have convenient places to park and plug in their truck!

Honestly, though. WTAF is the point of them going to all the trouble and expense of even putting in an outlet if it's only for shore power? I may as well just plug in an extension cord if I have access to electricity... -
If you have a clean idle truck I doubt you have an APU.
Where would you run the cord? This way off you find power you use the outlet in the truck. Still doesn't make sense. Best pony up for an inverter. Harbor Freight just started carrying them. A 750 is $84 I think. 1500 is $129. -
I definitely have an APU. That was never in question.
I understand that plugging into an outlet in the truck is slightly more convenient than running an extension cord, but not by much. My point was why did they even bother if it's only for shore power? They obviously didn't put it in here because they care that people live in this thing!
I would totally buy my own inverter, and even pay the shop to install it, but my company is kind of stupid, and the truck belongs to Penske. I'm not putting that kind of money into a truck that could be recycled by tomorrow. -
The block heater plug is below driver door. The shore power plug is at bottom of sleeper on driver side.
-
Turn off truck engine but turn ignition to the run position. Make sure all headlights/running lights are turned off. Scan the AM band. If inverter is on you will hear i interference. The helicopter noise could be from inverter, I'm not sure.
-
I'll check again. We're actually headed to Penske right now for an answer anyway. I'll post what they say.
