I have 2002 Freightliner Columbia with Detroit 60 Series. For last 2-3 weeks its loosing power. when I going up gear like 6th to seven then its very hard to keep up speed. Most of the times I shift down and try again. My mechanic checked twice with the computer but did not find any code but its very hard to work within the city with this truck. Today I am bobtail but my truck did not reach even at 100 km. I checked with couple of mechanics but everybody had different view.

Ok when was the last time fuel filter was charged air filter plugged is turbo showing boost

It's a simple engine get a new mechanic or better yet go to Detroit diesel to fix it

Being that im not a tech guy the fuel filter is the first thing I check, must be showin my age.

I would say fuel filters also. Could also be a charge air leak.

Yea that is the first things I look for on my Detroit. Fuel filters air filter look at boost gauge. Then like has been said charge air cooler might have bad clamps or boots, or even the core itself might be leaking. Simple tests to find out

FYI any mechanic that plugs in a laptop and says to you 5 minutes later "there's no codes, keep running it, its fine" is a hack and probably a parts changer too. Not every issue is going to throw a code or flashing light. Start with your basics. An engine needs fuel and air to run. Lacking one or the other and you'll have a low power issue. Start with changing fuel filters. A bad tank of fuel will plug up brand new filters. If you haven't changed your air filters recently, change them too. If your boost is low after doing that, inspect your intake piping and have the CAC tested for leaks. From there, see if you can plumb in a fuel pressure gauge and see what the fuel pressure is. If its low, you might have a restricted pickup tube in the tank, a collapsed fuel line, or a small suction side leak pulling air into your fuel system. This is diagnostic testing. Any of the above mentioned things could be causing your issue. That's why you need to work logically and eliminate possible causes until you find the issue.

Turbo not spinning could also be cause. But you should have black smoke out the exhaust if that were the case. I did on an isx anyways. Fuel filters would be the first thing most shops look at. They're cheap and easy to replace.
