I can almost guarantee you it's the same as it is for every oil boom that has ever happened. Money is good , Rent is through the roof, you will end up spending every dime on booze, women, dope, and shiny trinkets and come home two years later just as broke as when you left. Or maybe your in that 5% that doesn't do any of that and can stash away money like a squirrel with nuts. Good Luck
HollywoodJoy, Tanker312, Los Evas and 3 others Thank this. -
Tnevin nailed it..........it's friggin Thunderdome out there!!!
Los Evas Thanks this. -
Get an RV. Live in that. I imagine there are RV parks near where you'd be working. A decent Toyota Dolphin can be had for 2500-5000. Not bad. If you go in on it with a partner, even better.

When out was out in Midland/Odessa 6 years ago me and a friend split lot rent $400 for an RV he had. In nine months I made over $100K working for a rig moving company.

Give it about a few years without any new strikes. You literally stick a pipe in the ground with a whole bunch of money and see what comes up. Hopefully a whole lot of it.
But for the time being it's boom time. They are crying for CDL's and am pretty sure if I show up there bad back and all, they will find a spot for me and my CDL if i had one.
Boom times come and go, the best way to handle them is to make your money (AND SAVE IT ALL) living like a monk on nothing. Ready to move on to something else when the good time stop.Los Evas Thanks this. -
