Then go buy a Signature 700 Cummins. You'll be at the top first every single time. But I'm not sure how many times you'll keep on going down the road from there.

You don't want to decrease filtration on any of the high pressure common rail motors, it will dramatically Shorten fuel system component lifeHegemeister Thanks this.

This is the Davco filter, not the main filter. 10 micron will get more contaminants out as these high pressure fuel systems do not like garbage in their fuel. The Davco filter has a flow rate of 180 gallons an hour, this is a pre filter/water separator. The main fuel filter, I use a FleetGuard FF2200, and it is rated at 15 microns with a similar flow rate. If you clog these filters, you have serious issues with your fuel and cleanliness of your tanks, possibly algae from running crap fuel or bio-diesel.

I bought a new 2016 T680 with an MX13. The first filter lasted 9k miles. After that, it averaged 18 to 25k depending on the season. (Lower in the winter). I do PMs every 30k. So I carry a spare filter to install on the road between PMs. Never had to do that with other trucks I drove.

30,000 mile pm’s? Be interesting to see the cam lobes... All of that soot... Good luck.

30k is common. Kenworth states 60k with 30 weight oil. Never burn a drop of oil.
KB3MMX Thanks this. -
Pop the valve cover... Inspect the cam lobes and rollers regularly if you are going to keep the truck. Common for the cam(s) to get chewed up with extended PM’s. Well known and common issue. But, cam shafts are only around $1500 - $2,000 ea, plus labor to install, $2,000 - $4,000 depending on the make and model along with any other damage.
Hegemeister Thanks this. -
Really appreciate the advise.
I'm trading this in for a new W9 next month. Why would kenworth advise longer intervals?
I'm sure they perform extended life testing and dissemble then inspect. Wouldn't you think?whoopNride Thanks this.
