It really is simply how the FMCSA wants you registered with them to haul cars. Based on an old interpretation of the rules, nothing more than some administrative paperwork and slightly higher insurance.KANSAS TRANSIT Thanks this.

(D) Gravity or siphon feed prohibited. A fuel system must not supply fuel by gravity or siphon feed directly to carburetor.
My Honda gasoline generator, indeed most have a shut-off valve for this exact purpose. Honda recommends closing the valve when not in use. As long as that valve is closed when being transported then you no longer have gravity feed. The valve is intentionally positioned at the bottom of the fuel tank, not inline, again for this type of scenerio.
The PA State Police officer was correct to cite your driver because like most drivers he likely didn't close the valve.brian991219 Thanks this. -
Yep, and it's also the reason I get so pissed off when I see these guys stuffing cars, trucks and Vans on/in a flatbed/dry box/reefer, most of the time, they don't have the insurance to cover it!!!!!brian991219 Thanks this.
