well frankly, leave the cash at home in your bank, where it'll be safer, and take along an ATM/debit card. just beware that out of network banks may (and will) charge a fee on top of your usage.

if you have a credit card, take that, BUT DO NOT USE IT, until you quit or get fired, and need to get back home, then go to the airport, and fly home either first class or steerage....

 

I would plan on $200 a week for food and drinks. Washing clothes it $3 a load now $3 to dry. You get free shower when you buy fuel. If you pay cash they are$14. If you eat at truck stop restaurant it like $15 a meal.

You’ll get paid while you’re training, so you’ll only need a couple hundred to live high on the hog, and enough for a bus ticket or car rental in case it goes really bad

 

Get a preloaded credit/debit card and use it. I got the Walmart Green Dot card. I could load it at truckstops with cash and if needed family could load it for me as well. There are no extra fees.

 

Those things are too risky. I wouldn’t trust them.

I would have the car paid off first.

Then save between 1000 to 2000 dollars cash which will become just enough to last until your FIRST paycheck (WITH THE REST set aside to SAVINGS which you WILL add to each payroll. In time when you truck long enough taking money from each load assigned and delivered and adding to savings, you will eventually be in a position to essentially write your own ticket for anything in life.

Most of my early trucking I kept older cars that were paid for. No repossession risk and no harm if they sit a while. We had a source dealer that sold leaded gas for them once in a while in those days long ago.

A long time ago I came back to the yard to find my car repossessed. At that point I made a decision to burn that loan, and never buy a vehicle that isnt paid for before going back out with another load. You cannot have debt of that kind when running around subject to repossession.

Depends on the company policy most pay weekly so it''ll just depend on when you start and what the finish day is for pays most close on Thursday and you get paid the following Tuesday if its weekly. I'm currently working for a company that pays fortnightly ( thats 2 weeks ) and not a fort ha ha our end day would be Sunday and we're paid on Thursday.
