First low bridge you get to bing there goes your fancy CB aerial.
-
IMHO, keep it at 13.5 feet max above ground.
The downside: you might lose a half-mile of uninteresting, unimportant and mostly undecipherable radio traffic coming from somewhere out there.
The upside: you're sure to not get a thumbs-down at a chicken coop manned by an over-meticulous public servant, you're less likely to hit a lot of stuff hanging over the road that makes a bad noise that disturbs your day, and you'll save a few bucks not buying new antennas prematurely.Last edited: Aug 11, 2018

I gotta wonder what antenna and his mount point/solution..
-
phone/power lines are a minimum from 15feet clearance.
if it is 13.8 will be helpful in chicago etc with the low bridges .... if the antenna hit .. GOAL ...Diesel Dave and Hammer166 Thank this. -
Only if he has a metal roof.

Some weigh stations have a laser beam set at a specific height.
If something breaks the beam, a buzzer goes off in the scalehouse.J Rich, Hammer166 and Tensleep440 Thank this. -

Yep. The older systems tended to have a wide enough beam that an antenna wouldn't set it off, but newer ones have a lot tighter pattern. Buddy of mine had to adjust his antennae because he kept setting off the alarms at Eisenhower tunnel.Last edited: Aug 12, 2018
