You wont have such large splits, instead of 600 or 700 rpm drop it will be 300rpm. Alot of people assume Ohio is flat. This is not true. Parts are, and parts are not. Detroit 13 speed and 3.58s. I run 11/12th gear on two lane loaded, 12 empty and flat. 4lane 12 empty or loaded. 13th If I feel like going really, really fast. But I don't lug engines. I don't pull mine under 1500rpm. Low rpm is great for fleets that dont own a truck more than 3 years. Rpm dont use more fuel, Boost Psi. uses fuel.

    What does the $8k include?

    Transmission
    Core charge
    Fly wheel and clutch
    Driveshaft
    Labor and other parts?

Make absolutely sure you what’s included when you get a quote. And what happens to your 10?

I'm getting my clutch install Kit as we speak, and the original 10-speed is going back into my truck.

    I'm fortunate that I have a 9-speed that's like new and a 13 speed both for spares.

But if anything happens to that 10-speed, and it's at a time that I really have some Mad Money, hands down no doubt about it it would be an 18-speed.

With that low low reduction especially in reverse, the clutch itself might Outlast me. I always think the trucks reverse gear is too high when you back into the dock. There's nothing like letting your clutch completely out taking your foot off of it and crawling in.

18 speed is the greatest because no matter what road speed you are at you can control your engine RPMs. Your engine never has to rev too much or work too hard. You always have a gear for whatever Road speed you are at. I would think if you looked at it that way you would even get better mileage.

And an 18-speed coupled with a turned up big cam is just too cool for school!

I love 13 speeds. 18 may be better depending on what you plan to do but personally if you don’t have a niche yet 13 is a great transmission.

What's your 9 speed? Many of them are convertible 13's.

I won't run 18's on anything with less than 7 axles.

I have a younger guy that's been bugging me for a year to buy him an 18 speed. They're the best, gotta have one. The works. Finally get it out of him that he's never even driven one. I pull him out of the truck he was in and put him in a 13 speed utra-shift. He's devastated. Absolutely beside himself. Automatics are junk.

Fast forward 2 weeks- please don't make me go back to the manual 13.

The pedal on the right... It's called a fuel modulator, think about it.
