I've been wondering about this myself. The annual vehicle inspection report form and Label. I have been told i can fill it out myself but it would be wise to get info from others.

I’ve always done all the ones for our 4 trucks and trailers. I am qualified, just from documented fleet repair during the last 20 years.

In a way, I can understand how it could limit liability by having somebody else do it though. I really don’t understand the concept of the annual inspection. You could have a clean inspection, but something major could break a month later and still cause a accident. The annual inspection isn’t that much more involved than the pre trip drivers do every day.

Is that true that if you are a motor carrier you are permitted to do that?

No unless you have a qualified inspector there.

There is this idea that you can but read the regs, there are two parts of it plus the part of the qualifications
