but at what stress and aggravations level..??

the dock worker (fork lift) will go home less stressed than the truck driver, or have you taken your time on the road to be stress and aggravation free..???

no bad weather to drive in, no 4 wheelers to deal with, no break downs on the side of the road, etc.etc...

the dock worker CAN make overtime, if he is asked to stay later, or there is a lot on the docks to be loaded up.

i know, i worked for an LTL carrier (union at that), and the dockworkers did VERY well for themselves...

If driving is leaves a person stressed and aggravated they are doing it wrong. And for each stressor tbat you mentioned I can list one for the warehouse guy.

My point was simple - overall a truck driver has a higher earning potential than a warehouse worker. There are exceptions, and driving is not for everyone, but to state that obtaining a cdl is not worth it is a naive statement.

I went through Lundeberg in 1973 and sailed for 13 years ending as QMED and Pumpman.
Made a good living , then moved outside Washington DC and started running office buildings as a Chief Engineer and made way more, $120k+ and lived a way more normal life and retired at 62
Loved the sea and sailed the world but as China said less port time made it much less fun
