If you install injectors, cam, and turbo, you may not need to change. I just finshed a older 6ts 3406e build with alot of marine parts. It has a stock 475hp 1750 torque ecm , stock injector codes and fuel numbers. I loaded on the dyno and got 786hp to the wheels at 1600 rpm. Customer pulls 62000 kg gross and reported 7 to 8 mile per gallon canadian loaded and 9 to 11 empty. Boost is 37 max and pyro ran's under 1000.

Hey DDS,did you get any feedback from those engines you removed the 7CZ and put in a 6NZ with good numbers?????
Low EGTs???? -
Yes, the 550hp had about the same or more power with lower egt and coolant temperature. Fuel mileage also up .3 mpg.
C16KIWI Thanks this. -
i think the easier way is to make the c16 high performance. hmm the 1974 pet have soft chassis and they start to twist.( an you may break the cross members). you will as well change the transmission and differential. about the c18, i knew a person that put a c18 in his old pet truck, the problem was to get permission to use it on the high way. this cost him around $250,000 to do the project. but that was around 5 years ago.and was in miami

pichu, thanks for the reply. guess i'll be leaving the c-18 alone as i don't that kind of money to get the permission to run it. as for the frame, i'm having pgadams build a new 300" frame. sinking all my time and money into this rig as it'll be the only one i own.

I agree the C-18 is probably the more expensive way to go, I was just throwing up the idea for discussion. The cheapest way to do it would be stuff a C-18 crank, rods and pistons in a C15/16 block so you would still have an easy serial number to get on the highway. Just for reference the C-18 comes in a 950hp version with 2400lbft # 1400rpm, this is a true twin turbo (not compounding like an Acert) and is for airport fire trucks etc, so it would go fine in a truck, they even have jakes, the prefix is CJP.

thanks, jas. if i stuff the crank, rods and pistons from a c-18 into my c-16, what about the ecm? Been thinking that i'd just hotrod the c-16 as I could get parts justabout anywhere should some problem arise out on the road.
-
550, in your list of parts for my c-16, you mentioned a fuel wire and hot ecm setting. where do I go for the fuel wire and to get the better settings on the ecm?
-
I got my wire from platinum performance and DDS can do your ECM.
Some of the guys on here built there own wire it easy to do if you know you stuff.I took my wire off due to EGTs rising with the extra fuel, wasn't much higher just didn't want anymore heat.
