For perspective here in Ontario a person working 70 @ gov’t regulated MINIMUM wage would earn $1182. That’s flipping burgers or Walmartian greeter.
$1000 guarantee is squat if you are out on the road

No one can seem to define when overtime in this industry starts. I have seen 55 hours.
-
I've seen in all over the place, particularly in the LTL side of things. I've seen OT after 8&40, after 45, after 50,55, 60. Just depends on the company.Trucking in Tennessee Thanks this.

We havent reached that point yet. The potential is there it seems. I am caught up in backhauls that don't pay much. Ran 511 yesterday and got paid for 452 (hhg).

leasing options?

Because this industry is exempt from overtime rules...thats why many pay straight time..
-
Most just make it up as they go. I suppose no one has decided what is fair, but I'm encouraged it's starting to be addressed.

With the elogs, co's now can easily see what hours your working..they can easily tell if your just milking the clock for no reason too..

Gotta love those guaranteed salaries.
I hope this practice becomes the norm rather than the exception. -
I don't like the word gauranteed. It implies a unspoken condition that needs to be met.
People in non trucking private sector, public sector and government at many levels are paid straight salary without that stupid word.
When I was on salary and a pretty good one to boot (About 6000 net monthly) I could care less about how many miles the truck ran, I instead focused on trip planning, progress and fuel etc. I became really good during that time.
