    Wonderful pictures, guys!

Quebeker, do you speak French as well as English in your home? I honestly think that having a second language is such a gift to a child... :yes2557:

    Ducks,
My wife has about 150 words of english...after 4 years of marriage. So my kids are learning both Englsih & Spanish. Pretty cool so far, my daughter has been great at correcting my wife's englsih. Pretty funny stuff. i think my wife will have a stronger hold on English before my daughter hits school in a few years.

It is hard for her, english is a difficult language to learn. I picked up spanish easy enough because so many of the words have the same orgin as english words. Here in Houston we have many spanish TV stations, radio, and stores that cater to folks speaking spanish. When my family came here from Germany, they HAD to learn English to exist. That is not the case now. As always, the children of this immigration group will have a decent grasp of english, and their children will only speak english. Believe it or not, this is not the first time that immigrants faced a huge back lash from our society.

    Ducks Thanks this.

Hyper, I'm envious. When I attended elementary school (1960-1965), we started to learn Spanish in 4th grade. I kept with it until into high school when my course load simply did not permit it. My girlfriend and I spent two summers speaking and writing to each other only in Spanish, and had a blast doing so.

Unfortunately, so many years have passed that I hardly remember the basics anymore. I wish I had hung onto it, but in our area we simply do not have the Spanish speaking population that allowed me to use it with any regularity. The same thing happened when I studied sign language. I got fairly good at it, but then lost it from disuse.

One of my girlfriends is from Denmark, and they speak Danish in the house and English outside the home. Both their kids are bilingual, and it's cool when I visit 'cause sometimes they slip into Danish momentarily forgetting I am there. Oh, their dogs are bilingual, too. LOL

I'm glad that your whole family is engaged in learning both languages. It benefits all. :yes2557:

    Wow! Very cute kids.
I'm usually out 5-6 days and back for 2, so it's not too bad.

And very nice picture quality. What camera do you have?

My wife doesn't speak French so at home, it's mostly English.
I do try to speak to Eva-Mae in French but being home 2 days a week make it hard to teach her.
But when I'm home and I put a Dora or Max and Ruby DVD in for her, I usually make it play in French.
My Dad and sister were here for 3 days and on the last day, half the conversation between them and Eva-Mae was in French.
It would not take much for her to be bilingual.
And she does know quite a bit of Spanish words and expression because of Dora and Diego cartoons.

    Ducks Thanks this.
