How is everyone doing today?
Curious what typical insurance looks like in this industry? My wife has MS (PPMS) and would like to find something that has good coverage without breaking our checkbook.
We're worried about high premiums and deductibles leaving us with less money than we have now.
Anyone able to give examples or what companies typically provide?
Thanks!
Average industry health insurance?

The insurance my company offers of really good with $0.00 deductible... The down side is that it is expensive, about $1k a month for a family... And to get that deductible you have to go to a specific hospital local here where the company is based, this isn't generally a problem as most of the employees live with in 50 miles of said hospital.

Insurance is great, however if you are an HONORABLY discharged Veteran get enrolled with the VA too. Not going to help with spouse and kids but helps with you the Veteran. If you have to travel they will pay travel pay.

No such thing as typical.
Some offer nothing.
Some offer 100% company paid insurance with zero deductible.
Some companies show you how to get hooked up with Obamacare and act like they're going to be doing you a favor even if Obamacare eats up a whole week's pay. -
My wife's medication just to function (takes hours to get out of bed at times) is expensive. We're working on her SSDI, but could take time.
The industry in-which my degree is in (just graduated) is dead in the water for my location, and thinking about going to CDL school. However, a local school and company would be best while we get her stabilized since she was just diagnosed in December. -
My company offers a high deductible plan with decent in-network discounts and a HSA for about $750 per month (for a family). Or they have the Cadillac plan for about $1100 per month. Myself and my family are all relatively healthy, so I opted for the cheaper plan. If I knew that one of us had a condition which would require numerous trips to various Dr's and specialists, I would think the more expensive plan would be the best bet in the long run.

Yep, that's the "new normal" that we have all been conditioned to accept.

It's amazing how costly most health insurance plans are, it's ludicrous. I've browsed the market place before and the available plans are not that great, and hell the companies I've talked to don't really offer up anything phenomenal either. There are good plans out there, but you're going to pay one way or another without a doubt.
