Stay away from 2010-2012 . New technology, things get better from there . Not a lot better but better .
x1Heavy Thanks this. -
cheapest to buy.You got that right!
-
Mack mp8 is a pulling machine drive a 2015 and had zero problems, but push come to shove I’d take the cummins cause parts are easier to find and more people know how to work on them.x1Heavy Thanks this.

Mp8 = Volvo D13 they have there known problems. If you can find a 2010 I would go with that year. No DEF
-
Are the known problems worse than the Cummins 2250 or the DD’s?
-
Injector cups failure. I know the engine well. Currently just over 1.02 million miles and had to replace the head at 933k
-
I don’t think that’s bad compared to everything I’m hearing about the Cummins and Detroits.
-
Without the def you have a regening nightmare . Unless you get rid of it .
-
Really? Please explain.
The first year of Def for the D13 was 2011. So 08 to 2010 was just the dpf. I owned a 2008 ISX with with no def as well.Last edited: Aug 20, 2018
