Put 'em on hold again. I made almost $400 this week, with the temp company and probably will again next week. I told them I'd check back in a week or two, to see if freight picks up enough to get home weekly and make more than $700. I don't mind low wages or being back on the road, but both? I'll wait a bit longer.

I work for currently PGT and can give u some info about them. Yes steel mills can take a bit. What shipper and receiver don't. All depends on which ones u go to. AK Steel, havent been there in like a year. Yes the economy is crap. Right now one of the big reasons i stay is that they pay for the driver's health insurance. Layover pay is still here. I have been in and out of steel mills in 90 mins or less and as long as 3 hrs. People complain about tarping all loads. well if u run the north in the winter time as a flatbedder, most loads have to be tarped. only takes a half hour or so to tarp. any questions just ask away.

Invest in Coil Bags! Best bet might be $400 a bag, but if you take care of them and keep the tears repaired. The time they save is unbelievable!
Airborne Thanks this. -

PGT was a great company a few years ago. To give you a little back story, PGT is owned by Pat G (maybe spelled wrong???) which he also owned PLS (Pittsburgh Logistics Systems). PLS handles A LOT and I mean A LOT of the steel and lumber that moves in the midwest and sometimes the USA. When Pat owned both companies they were able to keep the PGT trucks rolling due to some back door deals that I've heard about. But he sold off PLS which in turn cut his control of the incoming freight. This opened the door for many carriers to take back the freight they were running before the PLS/PGT deal. PGT may still be a good company, but they are slow since the majority of their freight is steel. I know I have never seen a beat up piece of equipment from their company. Hope this helps
