O.K. Truckers talk to me. I am new to the trucking industry. Currently in CDL class and will finish in march. I have already set up orientation with Roehl Transport. I would like to know how the economy is affecting the trucking industry. Are your miles being cut? and how much per week or month. Just trying to get an idea of what I am getting into.
    Thanks K.C.

there seems to be several threads already posted noting the DOOM and GLOOM of the economy. Veteran drivers quiting because they cannot get milage because newbies are willing to work for nothing ... etc.

What is fact? What is Fiction? Those are the things we newbies have to try to figure out.

    Good luck!

There are only 92 tucks at my company. My miles are steady. With the usual slow down from some load planning mistakes.

The fact is some carriers have to keep hiring . Another fact is freight is down and carriers are reducing the fleet size . So it must be a fact the only reason carriers keep hiring is because drivers keep quitting . Why is that when jobs are so hard to come by ?

O.k. Thanks for all the replies. I would like to know if there is any Roehl drivers out there that would tell me their average miles per week or month. Or any company drivers who would share the same info.
