I run a multi-stop load from Michigan to Texas with about 9 to 11 stops weekly. I have been doing this run since 7-08 and I had been late once before to the same stop the first time I had run it and that was the first time I had been late for anything with this company.......I run my 11 hours and take my 10.
I can give a reason but it will sound very cliche but it is true I run a screaming meanie 220...This thing will wake the dead and drives two trucks down if the windows are open.....I use it daily.I check the battery every other day or so......Today of all days the battery just died no warring just died....This unexpected alarm failure caused me to awake at 4:10am Texas time and my Appointment time was 4:01am.....Now We have 1 hour before and 1 hour after the Appointment time and we are OK no service failure....Seeing as I do what most of you do I was just outside the gate to delivery.....So jump up dress hit the gate and check in there at 4:19am...Go to Assigned dock drop trailer and head to the check in window....checked-in 4:42am....I'm in under the "Golden" hour.....Now I have one more appointment at 10:30am 1.5hrs away....I was held up until 11:45am...The receiver had no answer for it they kept calling out to the floor asking how long...15mins....everytime they asked....I did what I was suppose to I called told my dispatch what happened they were not happy I was late but were glade I made it within the hour.....Now I know I was late and I take responsibility for that and I will give credit to the receiving office they tried to help get me out but it seemed to be a problem with the unloaders as I left I find out that they are running the dock short handed and a Truck had come in just before me on time with a lager load so I had to wait all in all I have to pay a high price late today for one appointment and had to have another rescheduled for tomorrow.

Always have a back up system. I use my cell phone, with an EMS alert tone
I've got a meanie too. But I rarely use it except when I've run hard for several days, and know I'll need the extra volume. And I put it on the dash, to make myself get out of the bunk.
I never use the snooze function. I figure, if I start that habit. I'll over sleep. -
