There are so many more variables than just that.
Pick up location, delivery location, type of freight, etc, etc, etc. -
well the locations may differ but the commodity is just basic feed material or hay maybe around 44 45 thousand on the weight...I just wanted to get a idea of how much more a mile or in general do flatbeds get paid rather then drys
-
Thanks for the additional info.
I'm sure there will be some along later that will be able to give you more input. We have quite a few members who will be able to answer your question! -
historicly the flats pay more but here lately there is VERY little flat freight and the vans seem to be doing better. Although "better" is a relative term. it all sucks right now. the load boards are currently extreamly slow and VERY cheap.
Hay in general has never paid very well though. But you're in CA and they haul hay differently out there. that's the only place you find those single screw tractors with double trailers. they can put more on so I don't know the rates. -
Thanks for the info guys, I am trying to contract a couple of feed companys and I wanted to know how much i can charge for flatbeds..I have dry vans so im good witht he rates on those but never flatbeds this would be my first. So I guess what im looking for is some numbers on average what is the dollar amount flatbeds charge a mile? Thank all

no difference at all right now because ! there is nooo freight!lol

How much do flatbed drivers charge for tarping
-
you should charge as much as they'll pay. the market so volitile right now I won't venture a guess. I've never pulled a flat. Figure what you need to cover your costs and how much you want for profit. if they say now then screw em. don't run for nothing
plus the rate will vary greatly depending on where it's loading and unloading. there is parts of the country you don't want to be in and if they go there you have to charge enough to cover deadhead out -
Typically $40-50 for tarping. My experience with flatbed is anywhere from $1.00 to $1.80 off the internet. Working direct you can see over $2. My overall average in last 6mos is $1.40- not good these days, used to see around $2 but some of that depends on fuel costs...
