Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

As a fellow driver from Texas those companies may have implemented a temporary hiring/leasing freeze with the economy being so close to dead.
Just out of curiosity, why didn't you have a few lease contract proposals 'in the works' prior to committing to buying a truck?
I'm not sure whether or not they lease owner-ops from the Lubbock area but it might be worth it to contact Parkway in San Antonio. They generally pull reefers with lots of outbound stuff from Texas going west (with a few trips to the midwest but normally never further east than Illinois) and then they usually bring inbound stuff back to the HEB grocery warehouses located in south Texas (but they drop & hook- no live unloading there).
It seems for now the only steady work is in hauling reefers or anything else normally involved in food chain movement- regardless of the economic conditions people still need to eat. -
TX doesn't have freight in the best of times.
panhandlepat and Thumper Thank this. -
Well too answer your question i bought the truck because it was good deal and i couldnt see ever being able too get a truck that nice for that cheap.i may just have too sit on it for awhile and keep haulin propane for awhile.
