Just because nobody is responding doesn't mean nobody is listening. 99 times out of 100 when I hear someone in the other direction warn of a traffic incident or bear I just take what I hear and adapt on the fly. I don't think about saying "thank you" although today I actually did because I was in Indiana where the cops hate truckers and will pull you over for 1 over.
A lack of cb radio owners.

Yeah the trucker deficit is high. But there are still more truckers now more than ever. The amount of trucker will never stop growing, it's just not growing enough to support the all around population. "They" say that by 2020 we'll have a 90,000 driver deficit.
-
“They” have said that for years now though
alds Thanks this. -
Just got into a 579. What’s your setup? (Meaning what, where and how).
You’re in a daycab?
I rolled Memphis to Dallas yesterday and was showing 8.3-mpg on readout. MX-13 pulled well. Happy overall at this point. Have tractor at home a few days to get moved in.
Pulling vans, and company has CB antenna on back of sleeper. Can’t believe it’ll be very good.Last edited: Aug 25, 2018

Yup, day cab single screw, with an X15 Cummins and a 12 speed endurant.
Mine has 2 CB antennas on the roof.Slowmover1 Thanks this. -
My son texted me yesterday on his way from ATL to Gulf Shores AL for vacation. He was in his pickup truck. He said he couldn't hear anybody on a little Cobra handheld with rubber ducky. I wish he had stopped by before departure. I would have slapped a Wilson mag mount on him. Rubber ducky antennas are good if the other station is in the same vehicle with you lol. Thats about it

Okay. Why was it a problem to get it to work?
-
Well, I tried to connect to power supply to the screw posts BEFORE removing the tray as.... @Bad Infuence I believe it was... described in his thread on the process.
That only left me aggravated with my knuckles bleeding.
Of course, there is also the Bendix Wingman to deal with inside there with it’s associated 10,000 miles of wire in the way. That didn’t make it easy to get the tray out, and once I strapped the radio to it, it was even more fun to get back in.
-
Thank you, sir.
Don’t wish to have to reinvent the wheel if I don’t have to.
(And can BI’s thread on the 579 be moved to this sub forum versus “New Truckers”?). -
If its the center of the sleeper, swap it for a 5 foot silverload wilson. It will stick up over the sleeper a few inches, a friend has this with a stryker in a 2017 579 sleeper and gets out pretty decent.
