I hope you are financially prepared for what I believe is your next step, that in frame. And yes, keep us posted, and good luck.

Based on the cost to do it.. i will weigh between doing inframe or just another truck.

I was thinking of a FLCascadia. Detroit engine. Delete the emmission system. Cummins have issues. Its consuming oil too

If the truck is still in good shape, I would in frame the motor. That CM-870 is a strong and solid motor and very easy to maintain with a bit of knowledge. I can tell you you are looking at right around $28,000 to repair the motor correctly, maybe a bit less, but right in that ball park. Most of that will be parts, labor costs are right around $4000 to $5000 dollars. What is nice about your motor is that it only has the EGR, none of the other crap that the newer trucks have to deal with. And I know Jerry can tune that motor to get roughly 8 mpg all day long, and you will have none of the emission issues that the newer trucks come with. I would really think hard about fixing the motor if the truck is in good shape.

Detroit has a slew of issues, very expensive ones... I would keep that CM-870, it is one of the best motors Cummins made when properly tuned. A very inexpensive motor to operate in the long run. Get the liner issue taken care of and you will have a million mile motor with nothing more than simple maintenance.

Thank you for advice. Truck is in good shape. Rarely do anything on it. Will call on Monday

Could be a number of things. Bad air compressor, dropped liners, head gasket.

    Lemme add my 2cents...

    Stay away from heavy loads.

I only pull 35K and below. Others can pull heavy all they want, I'll just wave at them when they stuck on the side with an overheated motor...lol
